Going through a spiritual awakening can be exciting, but it can also be difficult to deal with the changes it brings.
For some people, it may seem that they have awakened to who they really are or their purpose in life. For others, they may feel that there is still more to discover about themselves and their life.
Questions about how long a spiritual awakening will last are likely on your mind.
The length of time that you experience a spiritual awakening for is very personal.
We are all different, and while some people will awaken to the truth in their lives for a short period before going back to their old ways, others will remain more centered and present after their awakening.
What triggers the spiritual awakening process?
A spiritual awakening can be triggered by anything, but it’s usually triggered by a life-changing event such as the death of a loved one, divorce, or losing your job.
Some people experience an awakening spontaneously when they hit a certain age or go through a culturally changing event.
Others have spiritual experiences even though they have never been through anything traumatic in their life.
Spiritual awakening is not reserved for those who go through traumatic life events, though.
Many people experience this phenomenon spontaneously without any significant event that they can point to in their life.
You may find that you cannot pinpoint when your spiritual awakening actually began, or you may find that there were many subtle awakenings before you had a full awakening.
How long does a spiritual awakening last?
The length of a spiritual awakening will differ from person to person because it’s a personal experience.
Some spiritual awakenings last for a short period of time, and others may last for years.
Spiritual awakenings can happen more than once throughout our lives, and each time a person awakens to a deeper level of truth within themselves, it is a profound experience.
7 spiritual awakening stages
The spiritual awakening process isn’t easy, but it can be very exciting.
There are 7 stages to the spiritual awakening process:
Stage 1 – Feeling lost
The 1st stage you’ll experience is feeling lost and feeling like you don’t know what to do with your life.
You may feel unfulfilled in your work, and you may feel disconnected from the people in your life.
This stage can be difficult because you don’t know what to do or where to go from here.
Even though some people will try to push you to get back to your old self, this is a necessary stage in the journey of awakening.
You may feel unsure of yourself and uncomfortable at times, but this stage is important because it means you’re moving beyond your old self and embracing a new truth about yourself and the world around you.
So, stick in there and allow yourself to feel uncomfortable because it won’t last forever.
Stage 2 – Perspective shift
After the feeling of being lost passes, you’ll experience a perspective shift.
This is when you begin to see beyond your own life and circumstances and see the bigger picture of life.
At this point, your mind is more open to hearing other people’s perspectives.
You’re able to let go of your old way of thinking, and you become more open-minded about other points of view.
You will begin to see the world differently.
At this stage, there is a feeling of being part of something bigger than yourself, but you’re not quite sure what it is.
You no longer feel that your life revolves around you but rather that greater forces are at work in your life.
Stage 3 – Seeking answers, meaning, and questioning everything
The 3rd stage of spiritual awakening is when you are in a constant state of seeking.
You are on the search for answers and truth.
Your mind is constantly questioning, and you are seeking to find the answers that will help you make sense of everything.
You begin to see things within the world that you’ve never noticed before, and this causes you to go into a state of curiosity.
You’ll begin to question everything, and this is an important part of the awakening process.
You may also begin to seek answers from other people, books, movies, or even other cultures.
The reason for this is because you are seeking to understand the world at a deeper level.
There is an urge to want to know the truth, and you are always digging for deeper meaning.
At this point, your mind is open to learning anything that will help you further understand the world and where you fit into it.
You begin to embrace new ideas because they give you a better understanding of how things work and help you make sense of things.
Stage 4 – Finding answers and experiencing breakthroughs
The 4th stage of spiritual awakening is when you begin to receive all the answers to your questions.
You are no longer seeking, but rather, you are finding.
You begin to feel that life is full of positive signs, and you notice the little things that happen along the way.
Sometimes this stage can feel overwhelming because it can be difficult to take in so much information at one time.
Your eyes have just been opened to a whole new way of living.
You may feel as though everything you’ve once known has been a lie.
This is when you will experience sudden breakthroughs that allow you to see the world in a new way.
You’ll experience moments where something will make sense to you, and it will be as if someone turned on the light switch in a dark room.
Stage 5 – Disillusionment and feeling lost again
After you receive all the answers to your questions, you’ll begin to feel disillusioned.
This is when things don’t make sense, and you’re no longer sure if you have everything figured out.
The truth is that you probably don’t have it all figured out, and this is okay.
This stage is normal because it will help you become open-minded again and prepare you for the next awakening phase.
You may feel like you were more enlightened in the previous stage, but this is not true.
This is simply a cycle that will keep repeating itself until you fully integrate the previous stage into your life.
Stage 6 – Deeper inner work and integration
The 6th stage of spiritual awakening is when you begin to do the deeper inner work.
You’ll take everything that you’ve learned and start to apply it to your life.
You will begin to see results, and this will cause you to take even more action.
At this point, you are fully aware of yourself, other people, and your surroundings.
You can easily see how other people operate because you’ve gone through the same thing.
You may not be able to help everyone, but you’ll be able to offer them wisdom and guidance because you’ve been through the same journey.
Stage 7 – Integration, expansion, and enlightenment
The final stage of spiritual awakening is when everything begins to make sense.
You’ve been through this journey, and now you can see how it all fits together.
You will feel as though a weight has been lifted off of your shoulders.
A calmness will wash over you because you know who you are and understand your purpose.
At this point, your life feels as though it has a deeper meaning and significance.
Everything you do is with a clear mind because you know why you’re doing it.
You are no longer afraid of death because you understand that this is just part of the cycle.
There is nothing to fear when you live life to its fullest.
You will learn many things along the way, and this is all part of your journey.
You will begin to understand how it all works, and you will feel the expansion of your consciousness.
If spiritual awakening is what you desire, you can have it.
All you have to do is begin the journey on your own.
